Accident and Incident Investigation Support
In any business or organisation, things don’t always go to plan. You need to prepare to deal with unexpected events in order to reduce their consequences. Regrettably, accidents and incidents do occur, and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, 1999, requires employers to plan, organise, control, monitor and review their health and safety arrangements, with the aim of ensuring accidents are formally recognised as such, and investigated to minimise the likelihood of a repeat occurrence.
It is essential to investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, as soon after they occur as possible, and it is important to learn from them.
If you are unfortunate to be subject to a workplace accident or incident, then Osprey Health and Safety Services can provide a full accident investigation service to assist with carrying out a thorough investigation. We will help you gather evidence at the scene, interview witnesses and analyse the data. We can gather and present evidence, together with apparent causation factors, so that you can better understand what went wrong and how to prevent it happening in the future.
The fact that you thoroughly investigated an incident and took remedial action to prevent further occurrences is important. It helps demonstrate to the HSE, enforcing authority or even a Court, that your company has a positive, proactive attitude to health and safety. Your investigation findings will also provide essential information for your insurers in the defence of a claim, or to answer any queries following a RIDDOR report to the HSE.
