Health and Safety Compliance Auditing
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, 1999 requires employers to monitor and review the preventive and protective measures they have in place to control risks to health and safety. Monitoring is often supported through the auditing health and safety performance.
Health and safety auditing is a means of monitoring an organisation’s health and safety performance; a means of demonstrating an organisation’s compliance with its declared objectives and the law. Monitoring and auditing are common elements in all recognised Health and Safety Management Systems.
Health and safety audits are conducted by our professional and experienced consultants who will visit your premises and assess your organisation’s health and safety systems. We use a structured, comprehensive process that tests the effectiveness and reliability of your health and safety management system. The scope of the audit will be tailored, proportionate and dependent on the size of your operation and risk profile.
Our audits will tell you the whole picture of health and safety compliance as well as where your key risks are. It will either give you assurance that you have identified your key compliance and risk requirements, or tell you where there are gaps. Osprey Health and Safety Services will provide a detailed report which outlines positive areas of safety management and opportunities for improvement.
- A detailed review of the health and safety management system and processes
- A review of policies, procedures, safe systems of work, guidance, and training
- Engagement with senior leadership on health and safety management
- Assessing levels of implementation of the policy arrangements and compliance with them
- Understanding the critical health and safety risks to your business and how you control them
- Measuring overall compliance with the legislative requirements relative to your risk profile
Our Health and Safety Audits are documented, confidential, and serve as an action plan to drive continual improvement in your management of health and safety risk. Recommendations for remedial action or rectification of non-compliance are given within the action plan, and help our clients to develop their own road map to improvement. These can also be used as evidence of compliance with legislation, where audit and review are a legal requirement for the management of health and safety.
Sometimes, despite there not being a non-conformance recorded, opportunities for improvement will often be identified and shared with you, enabling you to demonstrate continual improvement within your management processes.
Audits can be provided either as a one-off project or included as part of our Retained Client Health and Safety Service.
